Students help a second school

Inspired by ByKids4Kids, Kathi Byington's class at Aspen Elementary chose the campaign for a service-learning fundraiser. The funds supported Shree Sudarshan Lower Secondary School in Palungtar, Gorkha, a school of 93 students in grades one through eight.

Students learned about Nepali culture, practiced math by counting donations, and exchanged letters with students in Nepal. The correspondence turned the fundraiser into a personal connection across two classrooms and two countries.

The first rebuilt school opens its doors

Harmony and Akash traveled to Nepal to inaugurate the first school their fundraising effort helped rebuild. The day brought together students, families, teachers, and community members for a ribbon cutting, classroom opening, and distribution of learning supplies.

The documentary follows their journey back to Nepal one year after the earthquake and records the school inauguration in the community they had worked to support.

A call for help from Nepal's children

After two devastating earthquakes, Harmony and Akash began raising funds and collecting supplies for children in affected communities. Nearly 9,000 people lost their lives, more than 22,000 were injured, and schools were destroyed across some of the hardest-hit areas.

The first relief deliveries included food, clothing, toys, mosquito nets, raincoats, boots, books, and blankets. During a distribution, children recorded a personal message asking Akash to help rebuild their school.
